Studio M: Calendar
Dates are subject to chage we will try and give you as much time as possible to make arragements. Something to keep in-mind expecations are high for each day. We expect you to show up and care.

JAN 22: First Day. Pam Dorr 3:30pm
Take notes on what Pam has to say.

How does a mobile shipping container function as a community bike shop?
Working in teams you will design a concept for a bike shop which is housed in a shipping container. You are paired graphic design and industrial design so you should play to your strength but listen to each others ideas. You are a team first. End the end you will deliver a concept pdf presentation. Concept includes what goes into the container (what does a bike shop that focuses on repairs need — maybe interview someone that works on bikes), how does it transform when it is open, how can work spaces expand, storage, what does it look like open and closed, what is it called, how does the brand convey the concept and message? What does the brand look like. How does it expand to multiple locations? Swag. Promotion. Social Media.

Bonus to anyone that goes to interview a bike mechanic or visits a bike store before Thursday or at least over the weekend.

Start thinking but don’t jump ahead. Research for Thursday (Debres Field: everhting out there relating to bikes, bike branding, bike shops, container, container shops, dyi, bike tools, etc). Fill the Wall.
Then you will be bold, let go, make stuff… Trust the process.

HOMEWORK for Thurs: Research. Fill the long wall full of notes, images of inspiration, examples of bike shops, shops, containers, what bike shops need, branding of bike shops, cool branding, ... Work together to fill the wall -- needs to be full (hopefully organized when we arrive to class on Thursday). Print. Sketch. Go to the library, Make copies. FILL THE WALL. Bring a couple of thick sharpies.

JAN 24: Think Wrong Workshop + team names

JAN 29: Due: Present Initial concepts, idea(s), name(s), tag-line, brand ideas, sketches, work loose but we expect you to have a lot to show and to talk about. Think about how you are goig to present all your ideas/ or your one idea to the large group. PDF would be an option.

JAN 31: Due: refined ideas, name, tag-line, tighter sketches, brand... Discuss deliverables.

FEB 5: Due pdf presentation deck to Pam Dorr. Deck includes name, tag-line, mission, brand, and look and feel of the shop. More info given before the date.
