BINDER
Your portfolio (your book) is the final ARTIFACT.
It is THE thing that represents you, your skills and all your hard work. Do not skimp, skip or cut corners.
The class is here to give you the information you need, feedback and advice.

GATHER, ORGANIZE, and WRITE
I need you to do all of the following.

-- 3 ring binder
-- put your name on the first page inside
-- resume, put it in the binder (don't worry if you don't have one or if it is ugly...)
-- your "personality" test in the binder

Write a word list/statement list 7 – 15 things under each of these topics:
-- my personality is... is not...
-- i enjoy working on projects that are..., i don't enjoy projects that are...
-- i like to work in this manner... the design process part that you like... and don't like
-- i see my work as it relates to the field of graphic design

Research FIRMS and CITIES
-- I want to live (name the city) or cities
-- I want to work for ___ type of firm or name of firms if you know

THIS PART WILL TAKE SOME TIME
...

Find ALL of your projects (including type and concepts) and organize them into one Portfolio Class folder on your computer or hard drive.

For EVERY PROJECT (this is for Jeremy's Blooms project for me I only need
TOP 6 projects we can discuss one-on-one)

Create a tiff or psd of one image (final image or an image from process). You need an image for every project. Find/ Write for each project: project name, class name, instructor, year (soph, jr, sr), project description or objectives, your concept or how you solved the problem...

All of the above is not designed just organized. Have each project on one 8.5 x 11 page.
on that page should be...
1) image of the project
2) name of the project
3) class name
4) instructor
5) year (soph, jr, sr)
6) project description/objectives
7) concept/how solved

PROJECT REFINE/REDO/DO
after looking at all your work what projects do you think need to be refined/redone (content, look and feel, color palette, typography, craft,?) read: precious-little

What project (type of project) do you wish you had in your portfolio (your book). What project do you want to do to put into your book that you don't have.

If you have projects that you want to redo, or do. How will you get it done? Make your own schedule so you have set milestones.

PRINT

All of the articles listed in the upper left and put them in your binder. Check out any other links you think would be helpful and print those out. Websites upload articles faster than i can keep track so look at the related articles listed on the pages. This is your tip resource. So that you can write an resume, cover letter and go to the interview with confidence. Your personality and professionalism is what separates you from the other recent grads / applicants. We see it over and over. The prepared person gets the job.
