Typographer Paper: Due November 3

Researching the typographer you have been assigned write a paper using the points below as a guide. Post your paper, images (photos, fonts, movies), interviews, links, sources to your blog. (scan your images as high res and keep them digitally on your media device). Due when class begins on Monday November 3.

*Rough Draft/Outline/List of Sources is due Wed. Oct 15: add to your blog before class begins. If you are having trouble finding information about your person, you need to let me know before Oct 15.

You will be using the paper as the text in project 4.

Part A:
Information about your type designer
{1500 words – in your own words -- i will count the words anything less will not get a passing grade)

why is this person important, what did they contribute, why do you think they are on the list...
:- date of birth, place of birth, (death)
:- training or education
:- milestones in their life
:- where do/did they live
:- is he/she attached to some art movement or style {if so explain
:- if you find an interview with your person you may use part of the interview for you text {source it
:- image of your typographer

Part B:
Font(s) designed by your typographer

:- list all the fonts that your typographer designed
:- choose 1 – 2 fonts (you must be able to print the font {if you can’t find the font(s) please check with me
:- classify the font(s)
:- examine the font and identify 6 distinguishing characteristics {visually and verbally describe

Part C:
Cultural or historical event
{30 – 100 words
What happened in the year the font you are featuring was made? (manifesto, art, political, social)

:- include bibliography {at least 6 sources {at least 2 printed sources
