in any glyphs window create a ligagure however you want to combine 2 letters into one form. This is just an example so you to throug the steps don't worry if you are not really going to use the ligature. I just need you to go through the process!

Once you have the ligature built go to Glyphs -> Add New Glyph and name it: your_letters.alt
example L_A.alt (use the underscore between letters, no spaces, no lowercase, no symbols this is code so you have to write it exactly as your_letters.alt

Double click onto your new glyph if there are letters already there you can Decompose and desing it or you can Decopose and delete and then Cut and paste your ligtaure into that new Glyph.

Set your side bearrings don't forget this step.

Go to Font Info
Click on Features
Side bar Features hit the + at the bottom
Type in calt -- all lowerase nothing else.
In the widwo type in the letters you want to sub code looks like this sub L A by L_A.alt;
You must write it exactly to match YOUR letters and alt and use the ; at the end of the line.
Compile.
Save.
Test. (pull down feature next to the eye)
