REFINE/EXPAND AN EXISTING PROJECT

Which project needs a to be refined and tell a better verbal and visual story?

Read through all of this. Pick a couple of projects to think about/ write about following the following prompts and pick one project to refine and expand.

Pick any projects you have done so far from the food truck to app to mag to self initiated... Please keep in mind for this project it should be be a project that you already have the visuals figured out but it just needs time to be refined or maybe expanded to be in your portfolio. Do not pick a project that you want to completely redo or restart. This is something that needs tweeking or expanding only.

Things to think about...
___ Showing an adaptive web/mobile solution (how does your design translate to a homepage, ipad to the mobile phone?
___ Could you add lifestyle photography to warm it up? Establish the target audience visually?
___ Develop a brand story/visual toolbox/toolkit
___ What can be added to make the concept, idea, product more compelling? richer? smarter?
___ How can you expand the touch-points of the project? Where would people find it?
___ How could you use social media
___ Refine typographic details (kerning, tracking, leading, hierarchy)

Things people have done before: expand advocacy poster to a campaign, redo sophomore app, redefine food truck, transform something from print to web, refine something that was ok into something great...

Visual Research Prompts : Artist Reps
Sometimes the best way to find great photography is to look at portfolios or reps of photographers. Don't just google, fliikr check these out and start saving your own list...

You need to start figuring out your process and timing. Make a google doc, put it in here it should outline your goals for the redo, process, timeing, deliverables...

What project are you going to refine/expand? Why? What is it going to add to your portfolio. What is the concept? Is it clear? Is it strong enough? What story is the project going to tell? Why is it important to be in your portfolio? Where are you going to start? research? mood boards? audience? typographic studies? design studies

Determine a set of deliverables, you figure out the design milestones. (what and when things are due)

Do you need to explore more options? Have a stronger concept? Design principles. Typgraphic details...

GROUP B: DUE Sept 5. Hand in a Keynote presenation (via google docs)
Present to it the group.
Presentation must be in keynote.
Must be professional and presented as if you were presenting it in an interview situation

* The presentaion is not about what you did to make the project better, what you chaged etc. It is only about the final product. Should include concept, audience, challenge, brand assests... should be photographed or mocked up... all about the product...

Group A: Due Sept 24

(group A is doing personal branding first then doing the refine/expand project. Group B is doing the refine/expand first then will do personal branding.) These both are short timelines then we move into longer timelines, see the calendar)
