Dear StudioH:

Jump in and get my feet wet... that’s what I would hope to accomplish this summer with the StudioH Internship. I’m ready to work with professionals and learn more about designing in real world situations. More than anything, I would love to see something I designed sold in a store. These are opportunities that I know StudioH could offer me. The chance to work as part of a team, to see the creative development of products, and just to be in the inspirational environment of StudioH are possibilities that I would look forward to.

Ever since my mom suggested to me at the age of ten that I should work for StudioH, I have been fascinated by the company. With this goal in mind, I have worked hard throughout high school and college to prepare myself. I have taken every available opportunity to learn more about Hallmark and have been to the company in Kansas City twice; once with my family and once with my graphic design class. Both my grandma and my mom know not to send me anything but StudioH cards!

Recently, I began exploring different design opportunities outside of the classroom to further develop my abilities as a designer. These projects have been more team oriented than most school assignments, and I have found this type of designing very rewarding. Beginning this semester I have become involved with the Kiosk, KU’s student art and literature magazine. This is a project completely designed and assembled by a collaborative group of students outside of class. Along with the Kiosk, I am also assisting Andi Witczak with the development of promotional pieces for KU’s Center for Service Learning. This job has given me the chance to put the conceptual and fundamental skills I have learned in school to use in a real world project.

In conclusion, I would like to thank you for taking the time to consider me as a possible candidate and look forward to hearing from you soon.

Sincerely,
Laura Rottinghaus
